Auckland (New Zealand)

Auckland Sky Tower (328m above ground level)      Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand.

Tour map in New Zealand   Arrived at Christchurch in South Island from Narita, return home from Auckland in North Island.

The nickname of Auckland with two bays and four harbors is 'City of Sails'.

360 degrees view of the city from Mt.Eden (196 m above sea level)

Mt.Eden is one of about 50 extinct volcanoes existing in Auckland and has a mortar-shaped crater on its top.

Rotorua/Waitomo (New Zealand)

Whakarewarewa (The Thermal Reserve & Maori Culture Centre)

Pohutu Geyser, the world famous geyser to explode from the ground up to 30 metres skyward

Sequoia cedar is also called American cedar or redwood.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves      A boat tour under the innumerable glowworms through the dark cave is provided.

Butter was finished by taking out water and adding salt.

Roselands Farm and Garden Restaurant, a restaurant close to the farm.

Christchurch (New Zealand)

Cathedral Square      It's in the heart of the city, but it has few traffic early in the morning.

Cathedral, gothic building with a tower of 63m high.          The 36m-high observation deck   (Collapsed in the 2011 earthquake)

Mona Vale   It's a public park with historic buildings and scenic gardens along Avon River.

The Avon River in the Mona Vale       The river winds from west to east in Christchurch.

Spacious garden in Mona Vale   Christchurch has more than 600 parks, is called Garden City.

Punting can be enjoyed on the river.

Hagley Park, area 165 hectares, the largest park in Christchurch.

Canterbury Museum    It exhibits the history of the immigration and development, and the Maori's culture.

Christchurch Arts Center, a hub for arts, crafts and entertainment in Christchurch.

Visiting a private home garden in Halswell, a satellite town of Christchurch.

Christchurch has a garden contest annually in February.

The garden has a variety of flowers.      The owner said she didn't know how many kind of flowers existing here.

Sign of the Takahe, a restaurant with Tudor-style stone building on Cashmere Hill, for lunch.

Mount Cook (New Zealand)

Mount Cook as seen from Lake Pukaki       It's 3,724 m above sea level, the highest mountain in New Zealand.

The Hermitage, a hotel in the National Park.   It's a well-established hotel founded in 1884

1st floor guest room has an outdoor terrace led to spacious yard.

Mount Cook can be seen also from the room.

Mt.Cook as seen from the Kea Point Track, one of the hiking trails in the Mount Cook.

Kea Point Track is a 2-hour trail to and from the Hermitage hotel.
